My How to Train Your Dragon Review
This is the original film which sparked a dynasty of sequel films, shorts and TV shows. It’s not hard to see why.
How to Train Your Dragon is quite action-packed for a family film. The Viking setting is full of fighting and sheep snatching dragons.
In this first instalment, we arrive at the miserable Isle of Berk which suffers from frequent dragon attacks. But one encounter from the hapless son of the chief Hiccup sets a series of events in motion which change life on Berk forever.
Prepare to have your heart melted by the adorable cat like Toothless as he and, the slightly irritating, Hiccup reframe the dragon human relationship the Viking’s are used to pave a way forward into the future.
All the How to Train Your Dragon films are family friendly and include jokes suitable for children and adults. The film works on multiple levels simultaneously.
As with many family movies, it is worth noting that there is a dead parent before the start of the film.
How to Train Your Dragon is the best of the series and definitely worth a watch!
A handful of inspiration
Normally I would create a bound, or character look, to go alongside my reviews and film posts inspired by the movie. However due to the bad weather recently I created a set of manicures inspired by the different films.

For this nail art, I was inspired by the relationship between Toothless and Hiccup. Plus Toothless’ gorgeous catlike green eyes.
