Disney Plus Christmas film reviews

Which is the best Disney Plus Christmas film? It can be hard to know when there are so many options!

My all time favourite must watch Christmas films can be found over here but Disney Plus needs a list all of its own.

If you aren’t a Disney Plus subscriber I have some other mini Christmas movie reviews here.

Disney Plus Christmas Film Hit List

These films are worth a watch

  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Home Alone
  • The Santa Clause
  • Once Upon a Snowman

Disney Plus Christmas Film Miss List

Skip these, unless you have hours and hours of wrapping to do…

  • Home Alone 2 +, if you’ve seen Home Alone 1 you’ve seen them all…
  • A Christmas Carol, this Jim Carrey version has the weirdest animation
  • Jingle All The Way, 90s cringe
  • Nutcracker and the Four Realms, I so wanted this to be good but it wasn’t

Disney Plus Christmas Film Reviews

As well as my normal ratings I have also included a Christmas Cringe factor rating as “the cringe” is a popular theme in festive films.

Godmothered (2020) 5/5

My star rating 5/5

Magic rating  5/5

Motion Sickness Rating 1/5 some wobbly style filming

Grossness rating 0/5

Christmas Cringefactor 1/5

An adult finds herself in receivership of a godmother’s wish she made as child. However this Godmother still has her L plates as she is a Godmother in training. This film is so clever and funny. Great casting and acting, it’s lovely to see other actors, such as Jillian Bell, in central roles. This felt like a 2000’s film in a good way. Godmothered is suitable for all the family and a real “movie” movie. Some great jokes and only a small amount of “ahh” style awkardness which personally drives me up the wall! I was very impressed!

Noelle (2019) 4/5

My star rating 5/5

Magic rating  5/5

Motion Sickness Rating 1/5 some wobbly style filming

Grossness rating 0/5

Christmas Cringefactor 1/5

The daughter of Santa, Noelle, is overlooked as the next Santa for her brother who is uninterested and unsuited for the roll. When he runs away it is up to Noelle to go after her brother and bring him back to save Christmas. I really loved this film! It may be one of my favourite Christmas movies ever. Some annoying moments but these seem to be unescapable in Christmas films so definitely worth squirming through.

Home Sweet Home Alone (2021) (Basically Home Alone 6) 3/5

My star rating 5/5

Magic rating  5/5

Motion Sickness Rating 1/5 some wobbly style filming

Grossness rating 0/5

Christmas Cringefactor 1/5

In this 2021 version of the Home Alone series, a very unlikeable boy steals a doll from the original Home Alone Home on an open day. When the owners find out they try and retrieve it from what they believe is an empty house. But guess who has been left behind from his family holiday to Japan?! Strangely the boy and his mum (an Irish actress) have English accents so expect “limey” jokes. Its laugh out funny but mostly because you feel so awkward. You don’t ever warm up to this boy and generally feel he’s very badly behaved and annoying. I also felt the adults should have behaved better.

New for 2023 Dashing through the snow 2/5

My star rating 2/5

Magic rating  1/5

Motion Sickness Rating 0/5

Grossness rating 0/5

Christmas Cringefactor 0/5

A social worker with a bad history with Christmas finds the true meaning as he helps a confused Santa with his young daughter in tow. This could have been so good. But it felt like there was chunks of it missing. Whole scenes infact! Which was frustrating and annoying. I just wanted to rewind the film to recheck constantly. What a shame!

I love to travel and pick up a tshirt from every magic location I visit! Suffering from a chronic illness travel isn't always too accessible but when I travel I always look for travel with extra magic!
