Must Watch Christmas Movie List

Sharing is caring!

What film would make it on to your must watch Christmas movie list?

Every year there are more and more Christmas movies released and it can seem like a minefield what to watch. Christmas films often have the same cringey themes and storylines but you can still find a gem. Below are some of my favourite Christmas films which veer a little a way from the cringe comedy and more towards heartwarming and funny.

I do like to watch the same traditional Christmas films to make it feel like the festive season but I also enjoy trying a few new films a year. Also we tend to have a few favourites on our roster so probably don’t make it to every film every year. But, for me, there is a close line between tradition and over doing it!

Stuck for a great Christmas movie to watch as you digest (or snack!). Check out my succinct suggestions below!

Must watch Christmas movie Rom Coms

For the whole family

  • Spirited
  • Noelle
  • Godmothered
  • Elf
  • The Santa Clause 1, 2 and 3-check out the two new series on Disney Plus.
  • Christmas with the Kranks
  • Home Alone film series (these are not my favourite but my partner loves them)

Festive Fantasy

  • A Nightmare Before Christmas
  • The Grinch 2000
  • The Grinch 2018
  • Klaus (this film is visually stunning and a bit different too!)

Must watch Christmas movie Cartoon Capers

  • A Flintstones Family Christmas
  • Arthur Christmas
  • Raymond Briggs Snowman and sequels
  • Robin Robin-Watch this if you love Aardman productions.
  • Julia Donaldson’s modern Christmas classics such as Stickman and Zog. These are aimed at the young but are watchable and with an all star cast.

All the streaming platforms seem to have come with new movies this year which Im yet to watch. But when I do I’ll see if any make the cut.

Have you watched any modern Christmas movies recently which have become must watches every December?

I love to travel and pick up a tshirt from every magic location I visit! Suffering from a chronic illness travel isn't always too accessible but when I travel I always look for travel with extra magic!
