It’s time to feel the Halloween Spirit

How to get in the Halloween mood fast!

The Halloween Spirit is out there and it’s going to get you. Or something like that.

Halloween is fast approaching. Perhaps a holiday you normally enjoy or maybe not. But after the last couple of years it just feels a little different. Time has moved strangely since the beginning of 2020 and it’s hard to realise where we are in the year.

All my advice is meant with the best intentions, tongue firmly in cheek. Just a few simple ways to cheer up your October. If you are feeling truly down always remember that you are not alone and to reach out for proper advice.

Top tips for Halloween Spirit

If you aren’t feeling excited for a night of frights then check out my must do list to get you in the spirit of things…

Basic Boos

  • Watch some spooky, spoopy or down right scary movies. Depending on your level of spook handling a scary or themed movie is a great place to start. For family friendly movies-my level of Spoopiness-be sure to check out my list here. I loved the new movie on Disney Plus for 2023, Haunted Mansion and I can’t wait to catch Beetlejuice 2 this year.
  • Decorate. Dig your decorations out from their resting places. Or head to the shops to pick up some new, reusable, decorations to create yourself a happy haunt. I particularly love lights to improve your mood.
  • Eat. Now is the perfect time to crack open tiny versions of your favourite sweets! Something yummy and festive will boost your endorphins. The taste memory will also remind you of Autumn’s past. That is one of the reasons food can be so comforting.

Whilst on the topic of eating be sure to have some Autumnal themed coffee when out and about. It is pumpkin spice season only once per year!

Wake the, emotionally, dead

  • Get creative! Whether that is putting together a cute outfit, carving an intricate pumpkin, doing a makeup look or maybe creating a Halloween countdown calendar for next year. Plus this helps build anticipation and spread out the fun!
  • Go to some Halloween and Autumnal themed events. Depending on where you live these could be pumpkin patches, which are springing up all over the UK now. Or Haunted Houses, fun fairs with ghosts trains, theme parks with amazing theming and more. Since moving to Lincolnshire we often head to our local Pumpkin Patch at Bell’s Outlet and love it!
  • Get a pumpkin. Carve it or paint it, just be sure to decorate it and surround it with light. A surefire way to feel the mood and the perfect lighting for a Halloween movie. Also delicious as pie! If the real thing isn’t your deal Hobbycraft have a great range of ceramic pumpkins ready to paint this year and you can reuse these again and again!
  • Throw yourself a party. Whether its a big ‘booo‘zy event, family friendly with just a few loved ones or even just yourself. Crack open the party food and play some games. Supermarkets often have some themed party games you can purchase. Or search online for printable versions such as movie bingo, pin the smile on the skeleton, pass the parcel etc.

Good luck and perhaps next year you will feel more excited for All Hallows Eve. Be sure to leave what gets you in the spoooky spirit below!

I love to travel and pick up a tshirt from every magic location I visit! Suffering from a chronic illness travel isn't always too accessible but when I travel I always look for travel with extra magic!
