How to feel in the Christmas spirit fast!

Sharing is caring!

It’s that time of year again to get in the Christmas spirit and the festive feel of things!

Somehow December is upon us and I don’t know about you but I don’t feel Christmassy at all yet! So I wrote a list of festive activities to help feel that Christmas spirit barometer rise and quickly too.

Christmas spirit activate

Activities to go out and do

  • Ice skating. If you have ever seen a single Hallmark style of holiday movie then you will know that Ice Skating is the epitomy of Christmas Cheer.
  • Head out to Starbucks, Costa or coffee retailer of your choice for an over priced festive themed drink. Ignore the calories or go Ice Skating to burn them off.
  • Or whilst your at it head out for festive cocktails or even a meal. Why not dress up in your sparkliest dress or cuddliest festive jumper.
  • Go Christmas shopping-go early in December to avoid stressed shoppers but still have the atmosphere of lights.
  • Check out your local Christmas or crafts markets and shop small
  • Buy presents to give. Giving really boosts your spirit, more than receiving. Even just token gifts, charity gifts or gifts and donations for charity
  • Go to your local tree lighting/street lighting switch on or just check out the local towns after dark
  • Attend your local church Nativity. Even if you aren’t religious being surrounded by so much belief can be positive.
  • Take a trip-a day trip to Lapland, a weekend in a European City renowned for its Christmas Markets or even somewhere like a Disney Park which go big on decorations!
  • There are loads of opportunities for days out or weekends in the UK with Christmas themes from Christmas Markets to places such as Warner Brothers Studios which celebrate with “Hogwarts in the snow”

Activities to stay in and do

  • Watch Christmas movies, afore mentioned Hallmark style or “proper” Christmas films the choice is yours!
  • Listen to Christmas music-whether it is classical, pop or whatever takes your fancy.
  • Play party games-go old school here with friends and family for laugh out loud fun
  • Eat party food (for any meal!)-hit up any supermarket’s frozen aisle for arguably the best frozen food of the year
  • Whilst you are at it have a party. A big party or a small party or even with just the people who already live with you (yes that includes the cat). A drinks party or a family party. Filled with party food, music and games.
  • Eat Christmas themed food-from roasts to snacks the choices are limitless. Turkish delight, peanuts, chocolate…
  • Drink Christmas coffee, hot chocolate or themed Festive Cocktails.
  • Decorate the house! Think trees, tinsel and lots of lights.
  • Think outside the box-or in this case outside the house. Is there somewhere you could put cheerful lights to welcome you home in the dark evenings?
  • Just because your staying in doesn’t mean you can’t dress up or if you prefer change into some festive snuggly loungewear!

I love to travel and pick up a tshirt from every magic location I visit! Suffering from a chronic illness travel isn't always too accessible but when I travel I always look for travel with extra magic!
