Top tips for getting engaged at Walt Disney World

Sharing is caring!

A magical proposal idea

I was personally very lucky to get engaged at Walt Disney World. This was a big life-changing trip for us anyway as its very expensive going from the UK. Florida and Disney World are somewhere many people in the UK don’t get the chance to visit frequently so we tend to go big when we do!

My experience of getting engaged at Walt Disney World

I personally got engaged in front of the Tree of Life at night. A beautiful spot and it came with its own photographer courtesy of Disney photo pass! Unfortunately, the photos are slightly ruined by the fact by now fiance had just come off the rapids so he was soaking wet. Which in a photo however it looks like he is down on one knee sweating buckets…not attractive!

I’m not really the overly romantic type and this spot seems to mean a lot to us. We are both nature and animal lovers so love Animal Kingdom and the Tree of Life. It has lots of great symbolism with starting a new life together etc. It’s also a little different than the classic in front of the castle pose which is beautiful and if that is the right setting for you then ignore what everyone else says/does and go for it!

Top tips for getting engaged at Walt Disney World

Here are my top tips for getting engaged at Walt Disney World…

1. Pick somewhere special to pop the question.

Make it relevant to you. There are loads of Disney options from outside your favourite ride (or on it!! Be careful of losing the ring!), fancy restaurants, photo spots fireworks and more! I think a proposal in front of your favourite characters would be exciting but don’t forget there are lots of people waiting in line at the meet and greets, why not consider a character dining restaurant instead? You could mention it when making a booking or to your server when you arrive! Here you will have individual time with each character (great for photos) without worrying about delaying anyone else!

2. Get a photo pass photographer on board!

This is an obvious bonus if you already have a photo pass. Lots of people have engagement photo shoots these days, this way you don’t need one-you already have your Disney photos!!

3. Celebrate whilst in the parks

On that same note, make sure to grab some buttons announcing your happy news afterwards and show off that ring to any characters you might meet for the rest of your trip for a great selection of photos!

4. Give yourself space and time

Don’t pick somewhere in the way or somewhere you will feel rushed like the middle of Main Street just before the parade… probably not the best plan! Also, think about whether you do or don’t want an audience and plan accordingly!

5. Go for a Mickey Mouse ring

Unless you know exactly what you want ring-wise why not get a fun (cheap) Disney-themed ring for the proposal? Then you can visit the shops on Main Street or Disney Springs to pick a ring together. You might just find something unique to remember your trip and it also saves on luggage drama (very bad time to lose a bag!) on the flight over!

Have you gotten engaged at a Disney park? If so what is your top tip? Share with us in the comments!

If you are looking for other ways to make your next trip to Disney World special this is what I would do next time.

I love to travel and pick up a tshirt from every magic location I visit! Suffering from a chronic illness travel isn't always too accessible but when I travel I always look for travel with extra magic!
