Get in the ‘Spirit’ at Bells Pumpkin Patch
It’s almost Halloween which means Bell’s Pumpkin Patch is almost open!
Bell’s Pumpkin Patch, situated inside Bells Gardening Outlet in Benington near Boston, is fast
becoming an institution of Autumn and Halloween in Lincolnshire. Last year I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening weekend of the event. Our PR Invite covered our entrance tickets and gave us a chance to look around before it got too busy.
This patch where over a million pumpkins are grown each year features the new addition of fun fair-
themed rides. Whilst the adorable, but miniature, rides are definitely aimed at the younger
members of the family there is something for everyone from Fairground Games to a maize maze, a
Maker’s Market, and of course Pick-Your-Own Pumpkin.
Pumpkin Patches
The pumpkins can be found over two ‘patches’ complete with vines and flowers so you know this is
the real deal!
We spotted at least 5 varieties of pumpkins waiting to be picked across the patches so
you are sure to find something to suit your style! These pumpkins can even be washed and carved
on-site meaning mum and dad don’t have to worry about the mess at home!
Other Activities
Some options, such as the tractor ride (very interesting but also very bumpy), fairground rides, and
your choice of pumpkin do cost extra but a lot is included in your ticket such as pumpkin cheek art,
circus shows with a chance to pick up some new circus skills, a farm themed climb & bounce and
many, many amazingly styled photo opportunities.
Photography Areas at Bells Pumpkin Patch
A big draw to Bell’s Patch and something they put a lot of work into is their pumpkin scenes, perfect for taking a photo with.
Whether it’s for Instagram or childhood memories you will find scenes inspired by so many things. In 2022 this included our late Queen, Cinderella, ‘Bells’ Angels, and even a bathtub of pumpkin goodness! In 2023 there is an amazing Wednesday Vs Barbie set up as well as cars from V-Ate
Food Trucks and Makers Market
When we attended on opening weekend the food trucks were very popular including options such as
crepes, freshly made pizza, loaded fries as well as mocktails and cocktails.
Inside the Makers Market, you’ll find everything from pumpkin-themed crafts to sweet treats such as cakes and doughnuts. On our visit we spotted pumpkin wax melts, pumpkin-themed jewellery, and pumpkin candle holders. You might even be able to start your Christmas shopping!
Pumpkin Canon
Of course, whilst you are there you can’t miss Harold and the frequent sounds of a “countdown”.
Harold is the country’s biggest pumpkin canon which has raised over £10,000 for Lincolnshire
charities since its creation. Why not have a go and see If you can hit the target?
